EMERALD ASH BORER IS HERE - WHAT NOW?
With confirmation last year by the State of Nebraska Department of Agriculture of
the presence of the Emerald Ash Borer in Nebraska (Omaha and Greenwood)...Wahoo property owners are
strongly encouraged to become well-informed about this invasive pest
and the tremendous impact it is expected to have on the City of Wahoo's

indicates that ash species comprise the largest single species of trees
on public space in our community...nearly 325 trees! Keep in mind, this
does not include the dozens of ash trees on private property. Clearly, EAB will

Civic Center has two 'battle ropes' in the Fitness Room available for
patrons to shake up their fitness routine. Battle rope training
is just one of many forms of H.I.I.T. training that is popular today.
H.I.I.T. stands for High Intensity Interval Training.
What is H.I.I.T.?
High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is an advanced form of interval
training and an exercise strategy alternating periods of short, intense
anaerobic exercise with less intense recovery periods. In plain
English, that basically means you’ll be working as hard as humanly
possible for a short amount of time, resting, then working hard again.
An entire HIIT session usually only lasts for about 10 to 20

|Which Battle Rope should I use?|
Civic Center has two sizes of battle ropes in the fitness room.
'left rope' is 30' in length, weighs approximately 16 lbs. and is
intended for those who are 4'11" to
5'8" in height. The 'right rope' is 50' in length, weighs
approximately 28 lbs. and should be used by those at least 5' 8" in
height or taller.
How do I use the Battle Ropes Correctly?

fire!...including your waist, arms, entire back, hips, and thighs!
need a strong back and knees to start. Proper stance is crucial
(see left). Lean back and stay up straight and move the core 40
every second of the workout.
What Does a Battle Rope Workout Look Like?
A sample workout set using the ropes might look like the following:
1 minute exercise at 70%-110% heart rate, followed by...
3 minute rest with heart rate at 30%-70% and then repeat the exercise
Continue this for a maximum of 12 minutes. Can be done 2-6x/week.
And don't forget to properly warm up before doing a rope workout!
Note: The poster in the fitness room has examples of specific exercises and movements you can perform using the ropes.
